This statue of King Kamehameha was in the small town of Kapa'au, in the most northern part of the island, which was his birthplace. There is another statue like this in Honolulu, but this one is the original. This statue was first lost at sea near the Falkland Islands when it was being delivered from Paris in the late 1800's, but it was somehow later recovered and brought to this spot. In the meantime, another replica statue had been made, and that is the one in Honolulu.
