These images are from a February trip to the big island of Hawaii. Here you will find the most diverse landscape of all the Hawaiian Islands. Ranging from tropical rain forests on the east (rainy) side, scrubland forests and rocky hills in the center, to rolling grasslands and near desert on the west side.

Of course, scattered amongst all this are numerous large patches of recent lava flows, giving a lifeless moonscape like environment. The Island is home to five volcanoes, with one very active volcano on the south side that has been continuously erupting since 1983.
